Size & format

1 KiB = 1,024 bytes. We try to fit the chosen dimensions; we never shrink them silently. PNG ignores quality.

JPG, PNG or WebP · up to 20 MiB · 16 megapixels · 8,192 px per side. Animated images are not supported.

How to use it

  1. Choose your image and enter the width or height in pixels. Keep proportions on to avoid stretching.
  2. Choose PNG for transparency, or JPEG/WebP for a smaller lossy file. Optionally set a target file size.
  3. Generate, inspect the result and download. The actual bytes shown are the size of the exported file.

Pixels and file size solve different problems

A 2,400 × 1,600 px photograph resized to 1,200 px wide becomes 1,200 × 800 px with proportions locked. A target of 200 KiB controls the file weight, not its width. For print, agree the required pixel dimensions with your printer; this tool does not promise a particular DPI.

Questions before exporting

Will the target size always be reached?

No. The tool tries up to ten quality settings for JPEG/WebP. Some images cannot fit at the chosen dimensions; it reports the miss and the smallest result found. PNG quality cannot be adjusted this way.

Can I make a small image larger?

Yes, within the limits. Enlarging interpolates existing pixels and does not create real detail. Compare the preview before printing.

What happens to transparency?

PNG and WebP preserve existing transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with the selected background color, white by default.

Does this crop the image or keep metadata?

No cropping is applied. Unlocking proportions can stretch the image. Original camera and EXIF metadata are not copied. Compare orientation and color before downloading.
