How to use it
- Choose a JPG, PNG or still WebP image. Your file stays in your browser.
- Generate a PNG at the original pixel dimensions. Check both previews and the actual file size.
- Download the PNG. If you need a smaller pixel canvas, use Resize image first.
A useful step before halftone printing
A transparent WebP logo can become a PNG for the halftone editor or your gang sheet workflow. A JPG photograph also becomes a PNG, but its solid background stays solid. Download your converted file and open it in the main editor.
Questions before exporting
Will my image become transparent?
Only existing transparency is preserved. This converter does not remove backgrounds. JPG has no alpha channel, so a JPG converted to PNG still has an opaque background.
Does converting to PNG improve detail?
No. PNG saves the decoded pixels without adding another lossy encoding step, but it cannot restore detail already lost in a JPEG or WebP. Color rendering and metadata may differ from the original.
Why is the PNG bigger?
PNG is often larger than JPEG for photographs. Use PNG when you need transparency or crisp flat artwork; use the resize tool for pixel dimensions or lossy export.
What happens to metadata and animation?
Exports are still images. Animated files are rejected. Original EXIF, camera details and embedded metadata are not copied; inspect color and orientation in the preview before use.
